Laura Starrett, MD
Laura is a self-proclaimed tomboy and Air Force brat, having grown up all over the Rocky Mountain west. She graduated from University of Colorado Health Sciences Center School of Medicine. She completed Family Medicine residency training at Cook County Hospital in Chicago, IL, while living in a Mexican community, where she learned Spanish and how to make a killer posole stew. After working at a church-based health center in that neighborhood for 5 years, she relocated to Hood River and began working at La Clinica del Carino (now known as One Community Health). While raising two daughters and job sharing with her physician husband Rick, she has obtained additional training in international health. Beginning in 2007, she and Rick became partners at Summit Family Medicine. Laura speaks Spanish. She practices Family Medicine with special interest in Women's Health and International and Travel Medicine. She is our go-to for helping patients prepare for safe international travel.
When not working in the office, or in her garden, Laura loves mountain biking, hiking, backpacking, and exploring her relationship with God. There is nothing she loves better than connecting with friends over a glass of wine to discuss politics, good books, and the art of living a good life.
